Sexarbeit: Arbeit – Ausbeutung – Gewalt gegen Frauen? Scheinbare Gewissheiten
Abstract
This article analyses some of the most popular stereotypes about sex work/prostitution, which are likely to produce moral panic and to deny sex workers’ agency: equating prostitution with economic and sexual exploitation, with coercion and with violence in general, despite the lack of fundamental data. The discourse about sex work/prostitution is characterized by differentiating between »voluntary« and »forced« prostitution. However, the paper shows that such an analytical frame is rather futile. For an effective policy in the sense of improving work conditions and increasing sex workers’ autonomy a differentiated and detailed look at sex work is absolutely essential.
